So, as zebras offer no advantages over horses, there's little reason to even try.

Readers may be surprised to learn that zebras are among the most dangerous animals in our zoos and wildlife parks. Their bite is vicious, and they aim to kill.

Great!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-50918898400804472402010-11-06T21:31:00.005-04:002010-11-06T22:27:30.863-04:00An animal encounterFor a city that doesn't have a zoo or aquarium, Charlotte does not disappoint when it comes to animal encounters. Today we discovered the Lazy 5 Ranch in Mooresville, NC. We weren't quite sure what it was all about. We had heard that you drive through and the animals will walk right up to your car and that you can feed them. In a world of "animals may bite" and "don't feed the animals", I was half expecting a few goats and maybe some far off sightings of some more exotic animals. We (well, everyone but Gage) were pleasantly surprised by the amount of animals and just how "friendly" they all really are. Aside from the giraffes and rhinos, every animal you will see here had free reign to go where ever he or she wanted to go, including inside your car if your window (or sunroof) was open. This closeness pretty much freaked Gage out! Stephen ended up riding in the back with Gage in his lap consoling him for the first 15 minutes of our safari (and every time an emu decided to peck at the window). By then end, however, Gage was happily singing Old MacDonald and saying "bye, alpaca."

There are not any photos of the kids here (unless you include the baby goats..ha ha ha). Each of these pictures were taken from inside the car. There was an option of riding in the wagon...thank goodness we didn't get there in time to catch the last wagon ride of the day. Gage might have clawed me to death and I would not have been able to take any pictures.

While I love Disney's Animal Kingdom Safari, the Lazy 5 Ranch blows it out of the water in terms of animal encounter. Thankfully there were no lions!!!

This guy was our first encounter. I was literally driving, holding the feed bucket, and taking this picture. The emus and ostriches pretty much freaked me out! The ostriches could have put their heads into the car through the sunroof of the Odessey!!!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNhyphenhyphen65sHDTD_5JlPIFO9cxJdaXupwovdWgj4BUOti4pNPSVbvVx4eC2ZC5uejI6JvumqcT83hO-J3uL_R0bvdJMgeu3uvz5TWncMy-hYltN1vi2g2J8z8lOY_zZlioVrqylpy0iCG6lE-t/s400/Emu.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536619070764327730" />

Not sure what this goat said about the ostrich's mama, but he was about to pay for it.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxI1ze1F4dfcRZ8inU_BQVpdAD9CPcb056jp_jFXJT-ENM4IUlwp_hME-TOjYvjDDaklYRwO6bNUN8oUAFCm5JsjQTjOmlGoe7PBfLU4nc2sCF8O6pfDIAyHDXIJZG_HbLOQ3JqS3u6_G-/s400/Ostrich.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536619370189793266" />

Here's the wagon we could have taken. The local schools do field trips to the Lazy 5 Ranch. I'm pretty sure this is how my children will eventually experience this place. I can't wait to chaperone that trip!!! The wagons are pulled by 3 of the biggest and most beautiful horses I've seen (aside from the KY horse farm horses).
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgeBpfsu18u8WC5YsK_pZkOZShuo1GUIhaMtNDYxhu8w4rScq4ymLgHP5Yzzera-K1EReitYRMax7WU2EWMPWfm2GMy_Wtug-Y3HJnknQmFDaqs7IBI0TIDxv87BPZ5_1HWq9NK6gebUKPe/s400/Wagon.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536619387011225730" />

It's very hard to explain this place in words. They told us it would take about an hour to drive through. While the route was long and there is a boatload of land here, the real slow down is that the animals are not at all afraid of the cars. They see the car coming and think "FOOD!!!" and don't hesitate to walk in the middle of the road straight up to your car. Then they look for the sucker with an open window and invite themselves into your car. They also just hang out in the middle of the road eating the buckets of food previous drivers have tossed out the window in an effort to get their windows up as fast as possible. Yeah, we know from experience.

Possibly our scariest experience was with the zebras. We had one who sniffed us out and then came to my side for some food. I obliged opening the window and letting him have some of the food. This only invited a second zebra to come over for a taste. Well, zebra #1 was not down with that. The two of them exchanged words and then the hooves came out. There was some bucking and kicking. Thankfully we got out without a hoof going through the side of the mini. Not sure how you explain that one to the insurance company!

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEguzVmviJ0VLxuLx5VwfmZTu2M9B10aLeiIFJYIJluyJq50nG4YTIK8v5okGlGeRSyjqb0cqz58-vj6JU_hFuve5k4RGulMnP1sdjgBHw65mxtDpo4fPc0MeZsniGnAJZ5WFdne_Hfg7KzE/s400/Zebra.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536619577639304882" />

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQ_KWgZ1xRZ2HXK9QgKze8MG2io4uFg6bW4pLHYL7-5F4M9BZN-eisaQVf6dUXFiSlORqCcNDm4qLo1ne-AUZ2l82y84pvJLQH_k_ZJ2_2hBQslkTmHOKJAnM6KkZgtWiYuhi-jE9vPBf5/s400/Zebra2.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5536619590683217682" />

The alpacas were very friendly and not at all scary...especially when you don't have any food left, and therefore, the windows remain up! There are a lot of things we love about Charlotte...the people are friendly, traffic is somewhat of a joke, pace of life is a little slower. And while we are not loving this apartment, it definitely has it's pluses. For example, if anything is lost, you don't have to look too long before finding it. No need for baby gates or baby monitors really since there are no stairs and the kids are never out of ear's reach. We can literally walk across the street (a 2-lane road) to a (very nice) Wal-Mart super center...this ain't your Austell Wal-Mart! But probably the best thing about apartment living is that we are somewhat forced to get out and explore all that this city has to offer every Saturday and Sunday. The less time we spend cooped up inside, the better for all of us.

Savannah and Gage have adjusted quite well. Both kids started the first 4 weeks at a day-care very close to my office. While the teachers and staff are super nice and love the kids, my mommy gut told me to look for an alternative. Thankfully, we were able to get Savannah enrolled in a Primrose School. She started last Monday and she is a completely different child after just 5 days at her new school. We feel like we finally have our Savannah back! Unfortunately, there is not a spot for Gage until December when he turns 2. No worries though, he's doing great at his school...and I really do love all his teachers. His teachers are pretty smitten with him too, and that makes a mommy feel good.

Within Savannah's first week at KRK, we heard a LOT about "Bailey". Around day 4, we realized that Bailey was a boy and Savannah's best friend. By the second Monday, I learned that Savannah and Bailey were married on the playground the previous Friday...a title she won through eeny meany miney moe. Her teacher informed me that Bailey was crazy about Savannah. So naturally we had no other choice than to move her out of that school...JK :) She was invited to his 5th birthday party the next Saturday. And so it begins...birthday parties!!! Savannah was so excited to wear her party dress.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwxo5X8sFA0jr8yQLctC7-3M35Hilg2xAGpkvF0WIjntngIitOCNymzDow266VhbPdTWwi0gLXKdWf3229PvPf6IzAk6NaPLbpKL5cXXbsIdvTTCs_ZFXzSJTn86Dj_boIQEGuCTiEgU3M/s400/Birthday.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523606934447376946" />

Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury, NC was such a treat. For $7 you get a ride on the carousel, a train ride, a bucket of sand to pan for gems, access to the zoo (hey, they have black bears, bald eagles, and Gage came face to face with a rooster who cock-a-doodle-doo'd for him), and a HUGE playground. We got to the park an hour before it opened and walked around the lake which had a beach, paddle boats, and 2 bridges which were fantastic for viewing the turtles and ducks.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhjgESCD3fyXsSaKem7yQucBDRTZxFsKo1IuTMPGsTvHpECePpqE6-fM2IgjYwHGZWVCKBL545-IW6iAe23Ef1-986r0PstaH9A_pz__fIoGNHIRQ27QuIOD13uVgF_vBJm8vPAZK5tX3uX/s400/DNP.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523609131944144530" />
Panning for gems...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBGt4VZxl2nyk6-svZA-VtprpB_QM55z-fZAMnmpuBbxPuiNch0oBzT2Mc4X5tg_Sits69RT-koIidhUU-6q34cj3NgaurNm5ndt8fbJaQO5WrLLFGqU7w1SPsp4ozLknhBorLCWMsPX_q/s400/DNP+panning.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523609127875824210" />
The loot. Before we moved here, I was certain that Charlotte would have it's own Burt's-like pumpkin farm. I've been on the internet for weeks looking for the sea of pumpkins that Burt's provided this mom with a camera. Nothing that I've seen has led me to believe that Charlotte has anything similar, but I'm on a mission this October.

A group of us from work (all new to Charlotte) met up in Mooresville, NC this morning at a place called Carrigan Farms.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNVmhRvDvuWUsOBIxbwBdfcG5uJvLs4irAKzzqUTuniHa3anhkQwg8qKf_1Ladvj_omXdgzYCPFNVUolukFx0UY7mNZJv4Wq-I6Kjw4Jk5ScfEOZnEhWT2804njtQ_uUjJo7C5tCpQLbPX/s400/Carrigan7.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523608554924347218" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhN2gl6HS4PvP1qW5Ka5y55URkC-PEiYKrVjqaifKGFmKXCfTHIglFCrxCEFO4EiGS2ERP1Ih_EYU4v63JDneH3ezG6NtvjKnCw-2HtLxQnemjWhtLsjwNDIt968p1iWjFu3WYGNbLd7dSg/s400/Carrigan6.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5523608551275118754" />
While it wasn't Burt's, it was a great way to spend a fall morning. Stephen brought out the Mad Bomber. You can say what you want about the MB, but it will keep you warm. I like this picture because it shows off Gage's 3 teeth. I bought this hat when I was pregnant with Gage...I'm so excited it finally fits!!! He's not as thrilled about it as I am. You can't really see it too well, but he's holding a red heart mylar balloon he brought home from school today. He held onto that balloon for a good hour and a half before I could sneak it away from him and hide it. It was really getting in the way of walking, crawling, climbing, etc.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjq1i9ivwm46rTgsKDMU_bbsjdKifax0SqgBgFcZYVvUUXPZEYsRbenEjnmb4QTNLjnRxWFLaj4KS4rMR5sc7ZKYA1DoquP6-0OXiroFPrQA8We_GFAwxeSPwncK1Fto7FXImaZJ93uSG1A/s400/GB_snow.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5437551070612702354" />

Atlanta got some snow today...a lot more actually than I thought we would get. At last measurement, accumulation was 2 1/2 inches from the Barnett back deck. Savannah FINALLY got to build a snowman...something she has reminded us of ever since it snowed a year ago when we promised she could make a snowman and before we got out to do it, the snow had melted. Here's one that didn't make the cut...none of our family shots made it to the card. I've got some great ones of Savannah screaming and Gage trying to jump out of my arms. I'm throwing in the towel....family photos need to be outsourced!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 286px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRa0BjpQ1Ss-U46LzxRCkfFvYk6Tbp5u58IealcsaLxbJ1jIwN8S9LQAyNhmFMOx5jjSiatntb3T1hgzmtjm6BqILjsZv8fZi-94Dx6lx__FAjA1DX-d-RntQ6YP7Aus4H6u6DhBL5D2Tw/s400/Christmas_003.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422704649713722178" />

Growing up, one tradition we had in my family was to open one gift Christmas Eve night. Our gift was always our annual Hallmark ornament. Last year I got my set from my mom and it's fun now to put my old childhood ornaments on the tree. We have continued with the Hallmark ornament tradition, however, we let Savannah pick out her own ornament around Thanksgiving so she can hang it on the tree and play with it all season. So the Barnetts wanted to start a new tradition...one that would be reasonable to keep up year after year...Christmas PJs! I'm not really into Christmas-themed PJs, but I do want to keep them somewhat coordinated while they are still young.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 286px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkYM-I8WOXwo0CibETguAJbzPl1gPMVz-S5DAi84Kb6IElytcCdeLanQl8_0E6gedo1LssWsn81gMDkYwKWuy8SmKFfvUEdhGlwUtCsoVSULw4S3j_YfI82jxxDShx-hpIOeOszKmIDwsW/s400/Christmas_002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422704643744207522" />

All the family came over Christmas night for dinner and more gifts. We tried another family photo. Sorry, Rainwaters, we took the picture before dinner and missed you all :( And, no, I'm not pregnant, but this photo sure tells a different story. I know, bad mommy for not blogging before now.
First steps - Yep, Gage took 2 steps to Stephen Sunday morning. Hasn't done it since.
First tooth - Tonight after dinner while cleaning the tacos and pears off Gage's face, I saw it...a tiny little white line on his bottom gums. So what's a mom to do? Stick my finger in his mouth, of course. Yep, it's a new tooth!

Nana came to town for Gage's birthday. Thanks to all the Werners (minus Siri and Brooke) and Aunt Melanie, Uncle Josh and Skylar for helping us celebrate Gage's special day. It's true, Skylar was there, but you'd never know it because we're pretty sure she didn't leave the playroom all night! Many thanks to little Miss Laura for entertaining Savannah for hours! Of course, I'm pretty sure Laura was ecstatic to have her very own real-life dress up doll and Savannah was the willing participant.

Along the lines of first birthdays, Gage also had his first taste of cake...twice. Take one occurred Sunday afternoon following his mini photo session. I'm pretty sure he was cold and tired and wanted nothing to do with my camera or his cake. Here's my little grump man.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEityIlqcd9mODkUf8RHP_JPvjkIn3AAIOgFosN3fEa1FOg94L5b9UjOy_5NYzb3gNOk6Yy8R-2HostnaS-4D7t2VuLImPXklkfuxoerxYBl0AniZXl2fwR4bdNV0nBOIdyu0sX5C8Ar8eHp/s400/GB_001.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422698440040443346" />

So we put his cake in the fridge and vowed to try again the following Saturday. We have taken Savannah to the Phipps Plaza Santa for the last 3 years and still have our reservation for this year's visit next week. Last year she didn't disappoint, but with the Disney trip still in recent memory, we wanted to make sure she was not going to turn, run and scream this year. Let's just leave it at that and post some pics from this weekend's annual pilgrimage to Burt's Pumpkin Farm. I don't think I've been away from home that long since my honeymoon!

Our journey began with a sick visit to Savannah's pediatrician :( Yep, another year, a renewed relationship with the nebulizer...ugh! Not something we wanted to bring on a fun Disney vacation, but Savannah has taken to it this year like the trooper she is.

Friday night...arrive at Nana's house. This would be the first of several nights that Savannah got to sleep with Mommy and Daddy all night long! Great.

Saturday morning, Stephen, Savannah and I left Gage with Nana and headed toward Orlando. Once in Orlando, we stopped for lunch and swimming with the O'Donnells. Here's Kaitlyn (7), Abby (5), Savannah (3) and Megan (3). Megan is about a month older than Savannah. When Kaitlyn was just 2 months old, I had the privilege of holding her...at that time, she was the youngest baby I had ever held. Now she's grown into such a beautiful, smart, young lady!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgasRhVDakx3Xo6SleQJ0cFEZOcmXizg1WbH6MkstQjF57tDjw4SZvJ3SqkljHVGVIOeAFgA1xYX_KsGJPhhgOTfTqRku46Q1Rw4iRZxHdYSrNP7hOic2vwiNcfROcK4qPUfC1MDJi3ASkg/s400/ODonnells.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399723175116048658" />

After lunch, we headed to the hotel...The Contemporary...posh! However, once we got downstairs, the hostesses at Chef Mickey were practically begging folks to come on in. So we obliged. Little did we know that this was a grave mistake as Savannah was terrified of Donald, Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto and it set the tone for the next 2 days. Savannah's motto for the next 24 hours would be, "I just want to go home". Great!

After dinner, we visited the gift shop. Savannah loved the Chipmunk hats and wanted Daddy to wear one too.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiujYTy76y2fHjWaXbGQH0VqAPH5KUva6tka-Ch8NdMxLEqjhKHJ27r0V_eqxnpRe8SjhXK8-dCy0Yfxr8FVVStTFeJn-u2mfKSaiWpttcaRU5d1-9etih7YFwMl-GuEbAvs32IorzVjeTZ/s400/IMG_0148_1514_edit.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399723182715025362" />

Then she wanted to pick out a stuffed animal...or ten.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9MwAqRoDALerEWGaKUB3VBaL7nGklgXwqvhiJ-XwlSxuYgpLSKRz3VTaSTOKH7zf_Xrt3h2DM1jQQS8ef2x5V7cqjEDQMoRI0PYF38HZ7RT_eD0zuAKkmK1TrEUje5Bjh15FMuO0ROTxH/s400/IMG_0154_1518_edit.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399723190321228738" />

Sunday morning we went against all advice and headed to Epcot. Hint to anyone with kids under the age of 8...don't take 'em to Epcot! While Savannah was tall enough for Soaring, she was not quite emotionally ready for that adventure. But for the adults...best ride ever! Eventually we made our way over to Test Track which Savannah did not want to ride until she saw the cars. She happily jumped in the car and laughed hysterically (drool flying out of her mouth) during the part where the car goes really really fast around the track. She proclaimed that ride her "favorite". It wasn't Stephen's favorite, however. Right before we got on the ride, he realized that he lost one of our 2-day park hopper passes. That equates to a $200 loss. Great. He trucked it over to Customer Relations to see what could be done. Of course those Disney folks had it all under control and simply issued Stephen a replacement 2-day park hopper. So cool!

Later, we decided to tour the World Showcase and enjoy the Food and Wine Festival. We dined on several delicious treats and then about halfway through Stephen realized he lost his iPhone. That equates to a $400 loss. Great. He trucked it over to Customer Relations to see if anyone had turned one in, yeah right. No such luck. The last place he remembered having it was Test Track so he headed over there. Thankfully a really super nice, honest person turned it in, thus Stephen's roller coaster mood was back on the up swing. It was time to go back to the room for a nap.

After a little rest, we decided we better get Savannah to a "park" (ie playground) before she called a taxi to take her home. We walked over to Magic Kingdom (just a 5 minute walk from The Contemporary...sweet!). We decided not to force any rides on Savannah. We found a little playground in Fantasyland and she was finally happy! We let her play there for a good long time before asking if she wanted to try the Pooh ride. She agreed and actually liked it...score! Time to go back to the room and sleep.

Monday we were one of the first 100 people in Magic Kingdom and hauled over to Dumbo which Savannah declared as her "favorite". Then we rode Pooh again..."favorite". Peter Pan..."favorite". Small World..."favorite". Wow! We were on a streak! We then decided to head to Mickey and Minnie's houses and try our luck with Goofy's Barnstormer which Savannah declared as NOT her favorite. But she did enjoy touring Minnie's house!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjn_AcxAl-S0N7ZdQBPTvp5W-CGNAeKuaVomCLwnDK9KGwRWcth1o95s7zuTFXf5Usq30apsox-nETam0OpIvVWvwMYdNh7tD8CZBD5QoPYAbct_Q8lXiJ5YEHypuVmZNt5xnxZz_BJTr5C/s400/Minnie's+House.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399723193308936658" />

Despite Savannah's strong desire to "just go home" and Stephen's roller coaster of emotions on Day 1, Day 2 was looking up. About 30 (or was it 60?) days before our trip, Stephen made our reservations for lunch at Cinderella's castle. He called at 7:00 am to get the reservation. After Savannah's reaction to the characters at Chef Mickey and any character we may have spotted in any park during the first 36 hours, we were certain lunch was going to be a miserable failure. Savannah wanted NOTHING to do not only with the characters with big heads and crazy costumes, but she also feared the princesses...we saw both Snow White and Belle at Epcot. Since Savannah had been saying for months that she wanted to be Tinkerbell for Halloween this year, we figured we'd splurge and buy her costume at Disney. So before lunch, we stopped in the shop and picked out her Tinkerbell dress. She gladly donned this ensemble and, in my opinion, it was the saving grace for a perfect lunch! Savannah, like many of the girls at lunch, was dressed as her favorite Disney "princess". I think the dress made her feel at ease. It sort of reminded me of that cute kid in Big Daddy (Adam Sandler...great movie) who wears sunglasses so that he cannot be seen. The Tinkerbell dress made her fit right in.

The first princess to come to our table was Snow White. Since meeting Snow White the day before was such a disaster, my expectations were pretty low for this encounter. Savannah, however, blew us out of the water. Not only was she not afraid, she jumped down off her chair and practically tackled Snow White showering her with lots of hugs. They even played peek-a-boo...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcMgtZXPuziF-bIgGdykQxSo8pDgZ97FQl5vfwxCfcaU75FiT9uSNAaXnZX7fLINz1ub6wnmKOkrJaN9hfF27mvcnhaWJSUrmD_PHa4Re7Aa_Ws6j3Yk_oeMh_xvrA2gKsgh042H-kO-mJ/s400/Peek+a+boo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733202204426322" />
The princess lunch did not disappoint!

Savannah saw Cinderella's Fairy Godmother after lunch and though it was necessary to tell her she had a hot dog for lunch. Don't you think the Chuck Taylors make the outfit???
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmeMN8VZHF5JJ7TF9kJudWH0K5G8Seo5iQOVD104BDJ6xKBUdxtFilIZD1GyOEGTpdg5qArDCT3tfuFz7SEYtyBo6oKMvYy69_EGACtjQKRldIv5yIr8gxILZ6nApon3VroPB7fysbkvCV/s400/FGM.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733207997696674" />

After lunch, naptime. Later we came back to Magic Kingdom...just in time for the rain. So what do you do at MK when it rains? Ride the Teacups, of course..."favorite". By the time we got off the Teacups, the rain stopped and we continued to enjoy lots that MK has to offer.

The most memorable (and I cannot believe I actually forgot to put this in the blog so I'm coming back in now to write it) was The Jungle Cruise. When we loaded onto the boat, the "captain" told Savannah to come all the way up to the front by him. He was a young, college kid and was very good at his job. We thought Savannah was going to be terrified because he would throw himself down onto this big wooden box in the middle of the boat and it would make a really loud BANG sound. He started with his Jungle Cruise spiel. I wish I could remember the joke he told, and I'm not even sure Savannah really got the joke, but she laughed out loud. Anyone who has been around Savannah for any length of time knows that when she laughs, it's a full on belly laugh. Well that was all the captain needed to keep playing off of Savannah which she then thought was even funnier. The two of them just kept playing off each other the entire ride. Savannah had the entire boat laughing and I was crying from laughing so hard. There were at least 3 families shooting video footage during the ride and everyone was cracking up. Each time she laughed, everyone laughed which just made her giggle even more. By the end of the ride, Savannah became known as "Giggle Girl". As we approached the dock to unload, the captain got his cohorts to watch as he made Giggle Girl chuckle some more. There is just no way to capture the hilariousness of this experience...I actually need to Google "giggle girl Jungle Cruise" and there is likely a video on You Tube!

That evening, we decided that since the lunch went so well, we should let Savannah meet her most favoritest of all...Tinkerbell! We met 3 fairies, but Tinkerbell was by far her favorite....the only one whose lap she sat in and the only one she tackled when she saw her.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNDdhWG3CcoHPbabFt8IREYVKk3ZqCX927j29sE9bo9rMqob-3biGjcNj5VNUl_CZDhxLK7VUbKQ_s5V7LZtU7iM5Ea_dqKYTLQrBsbSZGpp6yhA6hbROKjVG7ymqnwmjaDzjSN5dY_DCj/s400/TB.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733212493939666" />

After 2 days of Disney, it was time to depart Orlando, but not before a stop at Sea World. As we were getting out of our car in the parking lot of Sea World, another family was pulling into the parking space behind us. I noticed they were all pointing at us and laughing. I had to check to make sure my shirt was on, pants zipped, nothing hanging out of my nose, etc. Then they got out of the car and said, "Look, it's Giggle Girl!" and then we recognized them as the family that sat across from us on the Jungle Cruise the night before. It's a Small World afterall. Sea World was....HOT! I mean, it's not supposed to be 98 degrees in October...even in Florida! Savannah got to feed the dolphins!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwrTQJV7WMn3ic6Ha_zSsB-H5i-ODqLwMp0oHjYk2Stm-ynbd1zu0zr0iuCGsyYeOtwDPATmpPnekhakvWurAKjhw9iunMr6Dx_UCZVsHV_nWhujST8qcGITojnm5cO3Dpa8eoLSB33cgf/s400/SeaWorld.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5399733215857743682" />

The 3 hour car ride back to Nana's was pleasant for all. Savannah slept the entire drive!!!

So what was Gage doing during all this??? We like to call it "Nana Bootcamp". Kiddos don't leave Nana's without learning something! (9 months)Okay, so I'm a little late on this post...8 days late to be exact. So sorry, but life goes on. Gage turned 9 months old on September 3rd. He and Savannah both had appointments with Dr. B. Savannah just got her flu shot. Gage had 2 shots...round 1 of his flu vaccination and Hep B. Savannah went first and cried the most she's ever cried from a shot, therefore, Gage was crying before it was even his turn. Perhaps doubling up on appointments is not the best idea.

Gage is definitely a sympathy crier. All in all, he's a very happy baby, and Savannah can really get him tickled. But if Savannah cries (heck, even if she's just laughing loudly), Gage gets upset and starts crying. He loves to clap. He's learning some sign language...he now knows "more" and I think "milk", but he's also learning to wave bye-bye which tends to look a lot like "milk" since his wave is backwards as if to say "bye-bye" to himself.

Stephen is tickling Savannah here as Gage is happily swinging:

Savannah is pretending to eat...Gage found it hysterical:

Well...this video will have to come later...I'm having technical issues.

He's not crawling or pulling up or cruising or even attempting to take steps when we hold his hands while he stands. He sits and tries to get himself into a crawling position by rocking forward and putting weight on his hands, but he can't quite get his feet out from under him and behind him. He will scoot on his butt though. When it comes to pulling up, he'll reach up and pull on the furniture, but he's still not able to get his feet under him and use those leg muscles to get to a standing position. "They" say that the second child reaches certain milestones before the first one did as a desire to "keep up" with the older sibling. I think in our case, Gage has no motivation to be mobile since Savannah stays right with him and brings him anything he could ever need, want or desire. I wouldn't move either if someone was always there to bring my water, the phone, the remote, my laptop and entertain me.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhT8zL-AOWHpYp4b22rIEotPRZMK4LpWrJwm694fSA2MLIjd_V8SdY2Byb8PlRC2kelao5fhnhiRXlENPhMkfQ5kczKHcgvmYrc7WgvLc0lb1kD-wtt78TVG4f7fn0kJB8dK3WPTZ1sZPL3/s400/Gage+crawl.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5380379876018762482" />

"Lady, can't you see it's football season? He mostly grabs food with his whole hand and puts his whole fist to his mouth...food deeply hidden in his grasp so it never quite makes it into his mouth. So really the only food he can feed himself is cookies that are large enough to stick out of his fist. He also likes to gum pizza crust. Can anyone tell me what ever happened to zwieback toast??? I always gave it to Savannah, but I have been to 3 Publix, 1 Kroger, 2 Targets and Walmart, and I cannot find it anywhere. Argh! Which reminds me, Gage has no teeth. Not surprising though since Savannah didn't get teeth until after her first birthday. He is starting to eat table food...sort of. He did eat a sweet potato tonight that was an actual sweet potato from a restaurant and not pureed.

So for his 9 month stats:
Weight: 18 lbs, 9 oz. Perhaps.With summer's end quickly approaching, the Barnetts are spending as much time at the pool these days as possible. While we do enjoy the pools in the subdivision and the super short drive to get there, there is really nothing better than a morning and lunch at Aunt Brencie and Papa Dick's pool, gardens and patio. We are so fortunate to have access to such posh amenities and I love that my kids get to grow up swimming in the same pool where I learned to swim.

Our mornings at Brencie and Dick's usually means that Gage must miss his morning nap. We've tried putting him down for a nap in his Pack -n- Play, but there's no way he'll stand for that. He must be in the pool! He loves his float and usually coos, kicks, splashes and plays while we all swim and dive and chit chat around him. Yesterday, however, before we knew it, Gage was asleep in his float.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg56KAW4G_wSmUhiHs_scM4V7_iuVm-MkfQQ8fslu27Xdve6sp2N0HU8HZUxNCqEWgDw0LtNTvpAVRbTimRqSLSuLjGFbMCzPZQeqn_ZNO4XU7un395iJVr4_m8H0Ne5vK3jW9sKyxCnubc/s400/Sleepy+head.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373366101199367954" />

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, however, the timing wasn't ideal. We were all about to get out of the pool and have our lunch in the cool shade of the muscadines. Do we pick him up out of the float and risk waking the perfectly content sleeping baby? Never!

What is it they say about necessity being the mother of invention?
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5LHfzImEX5MOBzF7FwMryoiDRjWvgRCUKIIXjh5Kq-bA9_KbGqlQf87qnfmzoICvXMNpFnMgRjRS8tZOVWSqjutHLhhVJpFP2TXgdnxQvXKcCASQBlykRkVuPMqqHJ7iG-CVWi-qk381e/s400/Rake.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373366094881376386" />

Yes...that is a rake holding the raft in place so we would all have a clear view of Gage while we prepared and ate our lunch. Before you all start emailing me and bashing my parenting skills, Gage was perfectly safe...we were very close...4 adults watching...he was in the shade...and he woke up before we even started eating and spent the remainder of lunch on one of our laps.

Savannah is really turning into a little fish these days. She is jumping off the diving board and swimming to the ladder all by herself.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicTs_NTDwz9BVZTN5xIeUrYR-8pRnhm4txFeDD96kAB5hZEB2pE187870rd9x66aHVzII5_1A8J8u0PG7yAhdufISfCKpJO4OSOxL179PIgi_wLI3zT2ft-rGZ2f4b_PtRkPYukA0WJzD-/s400/IMG_0023_0590.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5373368016475831506" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-7251787614584014002009-08-17T21:57:00.003-04:002009-08-17T22:44:53.693-04:00MotivationWikipedia definition: Motivation is the internal condition that activates behavior and gives it direction; energizes and directs goal-oriented behavior.

For at least the last 6 months, mornings from Monday through Friday consist of whining, crying, fits, temper tantrums, "No!"s, "umph"s, kicking, screaming, hiding under the covers, demands and anything short of spitting and biting. Did I mention we have a 3-year old? A wise person once told me that Threes are the Terrible Twos with an attitude. Mornings are dreaded in our house...and it's not my alarm clock that goes off at 5:30 am...in fact, I cherish that quiet time to myself between 5:30 and 6:15 when I get to shower and primp without interruption. But boy, when 6:15 rolls around, Hell breaks loose in our house. The daily grind is simple really: milk, potty, brush teeth, dress, hair and out the door. All can really be done in 20 minutes tops, but in our house, this routine can take upwards of 45 minutes to an hour...throw in a "time-out" and you see where I'm going with this.

My eyes were opened this past weekend to a truly amazing phenomenon...motivation. I think I finally learned what motivates my 3-year old...and I bet you all want to know the secret to my success. It's quite simple really. Three-year olds apparently like to win. We first tested this with eating green veggies. Now Savannah has always been a good eater, but as of late, she tends to turn her nose to the green veggies...they are not her "favorite". But if Stephen or I picks up a green veggie and challenges her to a race, she's very eager to shove green veggies down her throat as quickly as possible to "beat" us. Not sure why it took so long to sink into my thick skull to apply this concept to mornings, but this morning, I challenged Savannah to "beat Daddy". While Stephen showered, Savannah was to go potty and brush her teeth before Daddy could finish his shower...and was she ever up for the challenge! She finished her business, brushed her teeth and beat Daddy getting dressed. She was even eager to get her hair brushed and styled so that she could "beat Mommy" getting ready. Savannah was out of bed and ready to walk out the door in 20 minutes. She even got to "wake up Baby Gage" and kiss him good-bye. It's funny...as I type this, and without even knowing what I was doing, Stephen came in and said that Savannah commented on the way to school this morning, "Daddy, I didn't cry." So she KNOWS when things go smoothly and she's proud of herself when they do. So why the drama??? We're going to give this a try again tomorrow. Wish me luck!

We got to play outside a lot tonight with Sophie. The weather was actually pretty nice for August. And the sky looked really cool!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfu0Dl0jmcwXyiDrjTCNFnbtVM473fV4-nO7XxJ7cbXk37hylpWZtZyeM9x_i8Ndi0Fa9i_Gm3SOOL9SXV2WKRA8csyLng9ZcQ2uHwGVZ4VV6TKNkieAoqC9mb9ZqeX0mL7j13iNgjMs_K/s400/clouds.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371127759087037410" />

And I had to re-create Stephen's picture of Gage on the trike (Stephen posted his iPhone version on Facebook)...
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTOqEtfSSiOgNDK6hmJPvxEZ7TdBfbR3aDa94Ve4eXRqCcNdLacdVbQJ6wymFBZrDo9ccKBuzsnVdvqZ9GCREe1N91cN4-7grzMeXAOpDVDkYO8nammh23s7s_VK6dvKt-Bzcm5IJMy2fc/s400/Gage+trike.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5371127750581727122" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-18751552642392194072009-08-16T21:30:00.002-04:002009-08-16T21:37:05.250-04:00Just a pictureJust posting a new picture of Gage. Stephen and Savannah ran some errands this morning and Gage and I rotated his clothes...finally packed away all his newborn-6 month clothes. This is a chore I dread and put off more than anything else. But it's done...woohoo!
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhQgKFi2WpMYZpYjvF2g0RLcmx0A-QfCYI4L75uFYJBGEUih4a1TDetMhqj7xPIR-nsCxezhkS255QUVVkX1WP3QApMgnjiQpz8M3lL6rL3vxRo8Qe7FrIeqT1TkMSq11z9PoDkyM7raM2/s400/IMG_0049_0357a.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370740480925313074" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-17679989450421420412009-07-31T13:49:00.003-04:002009-07-31T14:09:28.739-04:00Hot WheelsSavannah got a new trike...and she loves it! She had a tricycle, but it was no fun. I think she was always too big for it. Sophie had this Schwinn trike (long before she could ride...like most things we get our children I guess). Savannah was pretty good at riding Sophie's so we found one for Savannah. Now the girls like to ride up the sidewalk to the Elko's driveway and then pedal as fast as they can back down the hill to the cul-de-sac.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBj7obCUsdjpXnD7MUvydRXlzue-6sWcP8sWLf02tqAvnTjtQrVGOb9caRVHVpye1oU3X3yAcfWCvsHObPHJgFD1QDgpOWDML8FteCN8oJJgPMf6M9UhW3mq1syVzcFc0jbiBTAJwldiX4/s400/Savannah's+trike.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5364687358833720162" />

Gage is doing great. "Summer Lovin'" works.

We've had a fabulous summer so far! I finally signed Savannah up for actual swim lessons with Miss Michelle. Until now, I've been taking her to Aunt Brencie's for her "lessons" with me while Bren coaches me on what to do with Savannah and how to teach her. It's NOT EASY to teach your own child to swim! So I'm outsourcing! But I don't feel too bad about it. Bren says that even she could not teach her own children to swim. Savannah had her first lesson last night and I could already see the pieces starting to click together for her. We have 3 more lessons to go and Brencie and Michelle are confident 4 is all we'll need this year.

Recently our friends, the Joachims, came to enjoy the neighborhood pool with us. Last year at Savannah's birthday party which we held at the clubhouse, Lauren's boys spotted the water slide at our pool and were upset when they couldn't stay to swim and go down the slide after the party. I didn't get any great shots of the boys, but here is Savannah making her one and only solo run.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglt1WCkxATWb0joQmt_hry_i8TBh7sMQO8blEIhYMO4RcU-L7QzMH8QUN1tQPOkAZnQRdUpfhRElkSxz4kkJOk9lgopnyOI_aGtoK2j7ghyDEnLBd-p-KpdI5MhnmasnJFxCTmDSRFTQ3g/s400/waterslide.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355906907964397442" />

Big G was there to catch her, and can't you just read the misery all over her face???
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOo4k43yioB6vd0UczwfZbjw4ihgNPTLVxRqEomVORb97cVqUlntBVFSzHtdSlozOsuCfsof4vXUw8DbJNSrg9uOdRK1C5QSt1sK3vfT9Pr6XcgSnm8hDewTeZ7mLL1ZAQoO_zoTXXHSF1/s400/waterslide2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355906903640670674" />

Since last Friday was a holiday, both kiddos were at home with us. We started with a morning swim at Aunt Brencie's house with the hopes of wearing Savannah out enough to take a nap before the evening festivities. I'm happy to report that she napped! Later we trekked up the hill to the King's for good times with the best neighbors, delicious food and plenty of Guitar Hero to boot. Many thanks to Nana for holding down the fort while Gage and Savannah slept and Stephen and I got to hang out later with everyone.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZxUXyymFJZhv990QX5v7_7AVg8-EoTN8NSt02q3goIxOzq9tsaHVr2iAQf41QhcFAPI8drfm12UAHQv8yVRjqpBGf5e4FKpxBDBFz3nIx2qUokzyO8X0cI9_qkQVcQjPt2izgTxwtoWWj/s400/SG.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355906496136782162" />
Yeah, Gage is donning his cammo.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJdc3PKcpatHktoR7_LefjMFtkg5wvdwkhcsqZ1vDxVDb9pvgeZaY4l06JtVLtjJ3Fox7vuyxgFGW_ZhaMq-xbTdWlhBCtpoSXXis-c-CHCk0CAZtGA7BjK_UlbvIVxg1t1h6aq-mkzzMa/s400/SG2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355906491313973474" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-37892625585194160092009-06-27T21:28:00.005-04:002009-06-27T22:05:37.152-04:00Catchin' UpSo much catching up to do! While I realize that many readers of this blog also read Savannah's Friends' blogs too, I still like to post pictures you may have already seen. As I've stated before, I hope to one day print this blog and make a book out of it to have for the kiddos later on.

We bought Savannah this pink car when she was about 9 months old. It has been one of those purchases that has been so worth it. Savannah used this pink car a lot over the years and although she's pretty much outgrown it now, she does enjoy a stroll around the cul-de-sac every now and again. For the last 3 years, Sophie's mommy and I have taken this picture of Savannah and Sophie in their matching pink cars. This is likely the last year we'll be taking this photo...so here are the last 3 years.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRkcyNj0TjyiN9KuUbJgYEsmAjjuTdEFt2lPQUa9kWAzzsTrWebI9zuRup_E0LY5XP4RIeEGxs23kbc9ETBRTmSCCudJpeehyphenhyphenSWH1GcIrj6Wlq9ve0jRY-FcdalEcpmQxeqTG1UcFugJhT/s400/spc.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352185925532843474" />

Last Saturday we celebrated Savannah's 3rd birthday with a HUGE party at Kangazoom. Savannah invited all her friends in the subdivision (which is enough to populate the class of 2024) plus her entire class at school and then some of mine and Stephen's friends' children as well who have become friends with Savannah over the years. Thankfully my parents were in town and helped entertain Gage during the party. Here is Savannah leading the parade to her party room.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 267px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiCEZXXbn7wMG2fP2PoFgn8RSplKKngDACT-7T0_T8h725bueC54FhrUz5MhnLrU63P_yJHKq7NRsrz1PKW9rjAJHqVFeofzAA9OZwcs-ef5jx6y_d4MR4sDV40Ki11aIldBNRSSBVONTCb/s400/kangazoom.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352185067013470146" />

The cake...of course Savannah would have nothing to do with it.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk8G5-WRqdvzYOcpNR220n1gjK0jpSdD63KZcxco9RXGCUMz0v19ftoPF8Wavm4gCgVTqTNlEiTMNv_YcMBqLXvsj0TdCQd0QIxEJ475IgUXtcFQx8KZih9dkwzCQ5Aqdwaq_zjEXb_1an/s400/cake.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352185059887926658" />

But she did blow out her candles like a champ.
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgotoTcvKmG9JvBOExOAU2oUArisC7lf1CpypdOYZHOxav5X_sUlq_kXixG4_ZeGE6c1zIdF9bNCV6rhRVgP-uLJ8M2msFbpOxApTyE_HqS6A3mKcTApTQd6RmuY_ytm7ofkXOlf1klPqGD/s400/Savannah+3rd+bday.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5352185477524854354" />

After the party, we headed over to Brencie and Dick's house for another huge party. Your happiness amazes me! I hope that you are truly as happy on the inside as you portray on the outside. Your laugh is infectious. You are inquisitive, friendly, generous, kind, loving, and smart. You are gorgeous and yet your inner beauty outshines what everyone sees on the outside. You are growing up way too fast, yet you are more and more fun to be with every day. I love you more than you'll ever know! Thank you for bringing so much joy and sunshine to my life. Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-72047201979973859832009-06-20T09:25:00.001-04:002009-06-20T09:45:15.469-04:00Technology gets better and better!!!So I'm finally catching up with the Joneses...well at least in the realm of cell phones. This is so flippin' cool! I'm posting the blog as I sit here in East bumble waiting for Mary Beth to call Savannah for her haircut...which she doesn't need, but it's the day of her birthday party and loves to get her hair cut...so who am I to deny her? I digress. So we got iPhones yesterday...something Stephen has promised for almost a year now. A long story and my thumbs are tiring :) Just wanted to announce how cool this is.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7111086105593372524.post-57084028477255438722009-06-12T22:45:00.003-04:002009-06-12T23:04:07.057-04:00June...the month of birthdays!We have a birthday party every weekend in June. Last weekend was Savannah's friend, Carter's, 3rd birthday. Carter's mommy is one of my oldest friends. I've known Lauren since 8th grade at Dickerson Middle School, but we didn't become friends until our Sophomore year at Walton. We roomed together in "Cres-Hell" our first year at University of GA (go dawgs). After graduation, we went our separate ways for a few years and then ran into each other, where else but, the "Awful Waffle" in East Cobb. I was shocked to see her with a baby in arms, Little G, who just turned 5 which I'm still having a hard time wrapping my brain around that one. But I digress...Savannah had a blast at Carter's party. Lauren and Big G rented a huge jump house with a water slide!!! I wasn't sure how Savannah would take to it, but as you can see, she loved it...so much so that not only did she go down the slide during the "3 and under" time, but continued to brave the big kids for more wet and wild fun.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 200px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsCLoXvaqBmrFRoboGJy19cSLBpkKfAvNKjtqJUGgg-eYkCQ5b0oVmrUr8ka9IdvC5JubZ6mswMfDNid8bENeUiXZpoW-yegf7kZQEAGQuPqYdzV93__37xukuLQ_e71ckRa8TZSwtcvEJ/s400/slide.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5346641879503085138" />Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
