Catchin' Up

So much catching up to do! While I realize that many readers of this blog also read Savannah's Friends' blogs too, I still like to post pictures you may have already seen. As I've stated before, I hope to one day print this blog and make a book out of it to have for the kiddos later on.

We bought Savannah this pink car when she was about 9 months old. It has been one of those purchases that has been so worth it. Savannah used this pink car a lot over the years and although she's pretty much outgrown it now, she does enjoy a stroll around the cul-de-sac every now and again. For the last 3 years, Sophie's mommy and I have taken this picture of Savannah and Sophie in their matching pink cars. This is likely the last year we'll be taking this photo...so here are the last 3 years.

Last Saturday we celebrated Savannah's 3rd birthday with a HUGE party at Kangazoom. Savannah invited all her friends in the subdivision (which is enough to populate the class of 2024) plus her entire class at school and then some of mine and Stephen's friends' children as well who have become friends with Savannah over the years. Thankfully my parents were in town and helped entertain Gage during the party. Here is Savannah leading the parade to her party room.

The cake...of course Savannah would have nothing to do with it.

But she did blow out her candles like a champ.

After the party, we headed over to Brencie and Dick's house for another huge party. This one was to celebrate Father's Day and Brencie and Dick's 47th wedding anniversary! The gang...

Everyone enjoyed the pool. I don't remember seeing so many people in Brencie's pool since I was a kid. It was reminiscent of the days when all my aunts and uncles were the adults in the pool and me, Melanie, Siri, Victor, Michelle, Jennifer, Piper and Beau were the kiddos...how things have changed!

Here's my beautiful niece...

She befriended watermelon too...

Tuesday was Savannah's actual birthday. We were very excited because her birthday present arrived in time to surprise her Tuesday night after school...a sandbox! Today we actually purchased the $6 pool from ToysRUs...it's just like being at the beach! Well, sort of :)

Wednesday night, we celebrated Savannah and Sophie's birthdays at our house. We built our own pizzas! The girls seemed to enjoy it. They both donned their ballerina leotards and tutus...they were really cute.

Finally, a post wouldn't be complete without some pictures of Gage. He is so fond of Savannah...

...and I think she kinda digs him too!

Happy Birthday, Pea!

Happy Birthday to my sweet Savannah Kate! Your happiness amazes me! I hope that you are truly as happy on the inside as you portray on the outside. Your laugh is infectious. You are inquisitive, friendly, generous, kind, loving, and smart. You are gorgeous and yet your inner beauty outshines what everyone sees on the outside. You are growing up way too fast, yet you are more and more fun to be with every day. I love you more than you'll ever know! Thank you for bringing so much joy and sunshine to my life. Happy Birthday, Baby Girl!

Technology gets better and better!!!

So I'm finally catching up with the Joneses...well at least in the realm of cell phones. This is so flippin' cool! I'm posting the blog as I sit here in East bumble waiting for Mary Beth to call Savannah for her haircut...which she doesn't need, but it's the day of her birthday party and loves to get her hair cut...so who am I to deny her? I digress. So we got iPhones yesterday...something Stephen has promised for almost a year now. A long story and my thumbs are tiring :) Just wanted to announce how cool this is.

June...the month of birthdays!

We have a birthday party every weekend in June. Last weekend was Savannah's friend, Carter's, 3rd birthday. Carter's mommy is one of my oldest friends. I've known Lauren since 8th grade at Dickerson Middle School, but we didn't become friends until our Sophomore year at Walton. We roomed together in "Cres-Hell" our first year at University of GA (go dawgs). After graduation, we went our separate ways for a few years and then ran into each other, where else but, the "Awful Waffle" in East Cobb. I was shocked to see her with a baby in arms, Little G, who just turned 5 which I'm still having a hard time wrapping my brain around that one. But I digress...Savannah had a blast at Carter's party. Lauren and Big G rented a huge jump house with a water slide!!! I wasn't sure how Savannah would take to it, but as you can see, she loved it...so much so that not only did she go down the slide during the "3 and under" time, but continued to brave the big kids for more wet and wild fun.

Gage is 6 months old!

Stats:
Weight: 16 pounds, 11 ounces
Height: 25 1/4 inches (we're fairly certain they messed up the 4 month measurement since I know he's grown out of clothes since then and this says he's only grown 1/4 of an inch)
Head Circumference: 45.3 cm
Adorableness: still as cute as ever

Gage was under the weather most of last week...lots of coughing and wheezing. Stephen took him to the pediatrician on Friday and he had some fluid in his ears, therefore, he started his first antibiotic on Saturday :( We already had his well visit appointment scheduled for Monday. Dr. B. took a look and determined that Gage could handle the immunizations if we were okay with it so Gage had all his shots on Monday. He was a trooper through it all and I'm happy to say that today he is feeling and acting like his regular self. Dr. B. has given the official go ahead for solids...good thing since Gage has already had rice cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, apples, pears, avocado (not a fan), sweet potato and squash.

I don't have any great comparison pictures of Gage and Savannah at 6 months. It's tough since they were opposite seasons and since Savannah came out smiling and has never stopped, while Gage, on the other hand, is much more serious and makes you work for that smile!

I still think they look so much alike!!! I'd guess that anyone who doesn't know them might think these were the same baby.

Gage 6 months:

Savannah 6 months:

Savannah's 6 months stats...since I didn't keep a baby book and she was born way before blogging became the cool thing to do:
Weight: 18 pounds, 1 ounce
Height: 26 1/2 inches
Head: 45 cm

So much to say...

...so I'll keep it short and stick to pictures.

We spent Memorial Day Weekend at Stephen's dad's house in Cape Coral, FL. Savannah had a ball playing with her twin cousins, Emily and Aiden.

The pool was a bit too chilly (76 degrees) to get in. Gage had his first boat ride, but was not photographed since he was in the Eden Velveteen (love this baby carrier!!!). Savannah even got to drive the boat...and enjoyed honking the horn at unsuspecting sun bathers. I went a little overboard (no pun intended) on the sunscreen...so poor Savannah donned the white face for most of the day...even though the boat ride lasted only about 30 minutes.

We also made our annual pilgrimage to Sanibel and Captiva for dinner at The Mucky Duck.

This past weekend, we FINALLY had our first pleasurable trip to the pool! While it took Savannah a few minutes to re-acquaint herself with the pool, it didn't take long for her to jump off the diving board...no arm floaties!!! But Stephen was there to catch her...or shall I say for her to land on.

Gage seemed to really enjoy the water too. Aunt Brencie's pool is like bath water...90 degrees...perfect! He even did a few sit jumps into the water. But I think his favorite part was chillin' in his float.

And then he clonked out on a bed of towels.

We started solids about 2 weeks ago. Gage likes his bananas.

Savannah wanted to feed Gage. I thought it was pretty funny that even a 3-year old unconsciously opens her mouth wide when feeding a baby.

Gage will be 6 months old tomorrow!!! But his 6-month appt with Dr. B. isn't until next week...so we'll post his 6-month stats then.
